1. Youths and vigilance group members in Michika and Madagali local government areas achieved a feat against the Boko Haram insurgents when they killed about 80 Boko Haram insurgents on Tuesday night when they were fleeing Adamawa state. The insurgents, The insurgents reportedly ran into the hands of the youths after they ran out of weapons. Report says normalcy has returned to both local governments.

2.The Nigerian Union of Teachers ( NUT) has said it will embark on aa strike action if the Federal Government fails to put in place all preventive measures against Ebola before school’s resumption.The NUT National President, Michael Alogba, stated that the union would stand against the resumption of schools until it is proven that there are no cases of the Virus in the country.

3. President Goodluck Jonathan, yesterday bowed to
criticism over the ongoing campaign with the #BringBackJonathan signs, as he ordered its removal from all platforms. The President however denied having knowledge of such campaign signs, saying it was not his intention to downplay serious national issue of the missing Chibok girls. The directive was announced in a statement issued by the presidential spokesperson, Dr. Reuben Abati,

4. The leadership of the Southern Nigeria Peoples Assembly has joined many other Nigerians calling for the sack of the Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Attahiru Jega, they are calling on Jega to resign for having ethnic agenda with the commission’s recent creation of additional 30,000 polling units in the country.

5. The 18-month-old baby currently quarantined after being suspected to have contracted the dreaded Ebola virus disease, has tested been confirmed negative. The Rivers State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Sampson Parker, who revealed this while briefing journalists in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, said that a second test would be carried out on the child on Thursday (today).

6. The All Progressives Congress on Wednesday described the order by President Goodluck Jonathan for the removal of the #BringBackJonathan campaign bill boards as belated. The party however described the order as a good first step, but said it was an insult on the sensibility of Nigerias.

7. The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Boboye Oyeyemi, has said that the agency was in need of information to apprehend the hit-and-run driver who killed the former Vice Chairman of the SunNewspaper, Dimgba Igwe. He described the shocking death of the veteran as a great loss to the journalism.

8. The Defence headquarters yesterday declared that the Army was in total control of Mubi, the second largest city in Adamawa State. A tweet by the Defence Headquarters, DHQ says Mubi has not been attacked. It says Troops were in control of the area.

9. The Federal Government yesterday said that the September 22 resumption date for primary and secondary schools in the country was irreversible because there are no reasons for an extension of the date. Minister of Health, Professor Onyebuchi Chukwu, who stated this while briefing State House correspondents after the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting said that those who have reasons to believe that the schools should not re-open on that date were only being irrational.

10. National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, yesterday, defended the N4,000 fee imposed on prospective corps members for the printing of call-up letters online. It said it was meant for services and infrastructure to be deployed by the collaborating firm. Director General of NYSC, Brig-General Jonhson Olawumi, said the money was not for the scheme.
