Kirikiri Prison Break: Scores Feared Dead After Attempting To Escape

According to reports by ThisDay, Scores of inmates were feared dead on Friday in an attempted prison break at Kirikiri Medium Prison situated in Apapa area of Lagos.

it took the intervention of the officials of the Nigerian Navy (NN) and the Kirikiri Police Station who joined hands with officials of the Nigerian Prison Service to safeguard the gate and premises of the prison.

When the Lagos State Police Command Prison Public Relations Officer, Biyi Jeje, was contacted
for confirmation, he alleged he knew nothing of the incident and said he would find out.

Several attempts made to reach him again proved abortive as he was not taking his call nor respond to the text message sent to his mobile phone.
