Woman beats her son to death for taking ‘Owanbe’ meat without permission

The Ebonyi State Police command has reportedly arrested 40-year-old Esther Mmahi Ukpa, after being accused of fatally beating her 4-year-old son to death.


According to reports, the incident began on Sunday, after Esther's husband, Ogbonnaya Ukpa, attended a party and brought home some meat.

Esther told investigators that she kept the meat in the fridge, but the following day, when she wanted to eat it she saw only leftover bones. She asked her son Sampson, if he ate the meat, and when he confessed, Esther Mmahi Ukpa beat him to death. The father claimed that he was
not home when his wife beat the child.

The police spokesperson said, the father of the child filed a complaint against his wife. The woman was charged with 1 count of murder.
