Mother Steals And Set Son's Car On Fire Out Of 'Love'
A 53 year old woman, Lucia Evangelista was arrested On Wednesday after stealing her son’s car and setting it on fire.
The Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said the woman admitted to setting the car on fire in other to release her son from the financial burden that was causing him distress.
Police said that they found the burnt car in the 24500 block of State Road 80, near Wellington, and suspected that it had been intentionally set on fire.
The car owner told the police that he returned from Orlando, and noticed that his car was gone. However, about three weeks later, the man returned to the police station and informed them
that his mother admitted to burning his car.
According to police, Evangelista said she wanted to ease her son’s financial responsibilities by getting rid of the car. She added that she doused the car with gasoline and ignited it using a grill lighter.
Evangelista was charged with arson. She was however released from the Palm Beach County Jail after posting $3,000 bail.
