Alex Iwobi’s Father Explains Why He Chose Nigeria Over England

After making his competitive debut for the Super Eagles in the 1-1 draw with Egypt on Friday, Alex Iwobi’s father has explained why the Arsenal midfielder chose Nigeria over
England.

Mr.Chuka told The Sun that:

“Even if he was offered riches, knighthood, positions, he is definitely committed to Nigeria — that is his word and his bond.


“I remember when the email came from the Nigeria Football Federation. I sat down with Alex because I can only advise and he is man enough to make his decisions.

“Arsenal did call and ask if Alex wanted to go. There is a profound misconception abroad and in the UK that Nigeria is disorganised and the system is poor. Yes, there is no perfect system.

“I said to him if you agree, board the plane, give it a try. If you don’t like it, stick to where you are. But don’t knock it if you haven’t tried it.”
