Nigerian Sent Back To Jail 20 Minutes After Release From Prison, For Committing Another Crime!

A store keeper Jackson Aniete was released from prison, but 20 minutes after his charges were struck out by the Isolo Magistrates’ court, he was re-arrested by the police for a different crime, and brought back to the same court to face new charges.

PM News reports that Aniete had earlier been remanded in Kirikiri Prisons for committing a criminal
offence; he could not meet his bail condition and his family waded in, asking for the case to be settled out of court. The Magistrate struck out the case and set him free. But minutes later, Aniete was arrested by the police for diverting 1,307 cartons of Chi Limited’s Hollandia Evaporated milk reportedly worth N4.4m.

The incident happened at the warehouse at Chivita Avenue in Ajao Estate, Lagos, and Aniete was charged for conspiracy and stealing under the criminal code.

Back in court, the police prosecutor, Inspector Abass Aboyemi, told the presiding Magistrate, Mrs A.O. Adedayo, that Aniete was the same man set free moments ago.

The Magistrate remanded him back to prison until he meets his new bail condition of N300,000 with two sureties.

The case was adjourned till March 30, 2016.
