Why Dry Won Best Movie In Africa – AMVCA Organisers
Speaking at a press conference after the event, M-Net’s regional Director, Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu disclosed that the decision to award 'Dry' as the best movie in Africa was arrived at after a rigourous process involving world class judges.
She further noted that on a personal note she would also have chosen the movie because of
its strong message. In her words: ‘I have watched the movie personally and Dry is a unique movie which tells a special story about things Africans go through.’
Also speaking about why she thinks the movie was deserving, the director and producer of Dry, Stephanie Okereke disclosed that the movie represented what a lot of people have thought about in their minds but couldn’t talk about.
‘I think it is because the movie dared to answer the questions which we have in our minds but many couldn’t ask.
‘The issue of a Girl child is a very serious issue and like I said earlier we all saw the case of Ese Oruru which has gotten the whole country talking,’ Stephanie said further.
