According to reports, the woman identified as Unet Khumalo, while working at the victim's home as a housekeeper, called the 30-year-old man into her room and ordered him to fondle her breasts. She then undressed him and asked him to have sex with her.
The matter came to light when the mentally disabled man told his aunt what had happened. The aunt reported to the police, and Khumalo was swiftly arrested. Khumalo confessed that she had sex with the victim three times without protection despite knowing that she was HIV positive.
Khumalo pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated indecent assault when she appeared before regional magistrate Collet Ncube, and she was sentenced to 20 years in prison. During sentencing, Ncube said that Khumalo, deserved to be punished as she exposed an innocent man to HIV.
The victim was however tested for HIV and the results were negative.
