DFID Selects ABU Zaria For NRC Network Centre

The United Kingdom’s Department for International Development (DFID) has perfected arrangement to domicile its funded Nigeria Resilient Cities Network Centre at the Ahmadu Bello University’s Centre for Spatial Information Sciences (CSIS).

The decision to domicile the network at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, was earlier
communicated to the Vice Chancellor through a letter signed by the Works team leader of the Nigeria  Infrastructure Advisory Facility (NIAF), Mr Mike Mutter.

Mr Mutter who said the domiciliation of the network at ABU was informed by the fact that the University has the oldest,  most functional, most established and most respected Urban and planning department and whose centre for spatial and information sciences has the potentials of becoming the preeminent national centre for urban management and city resilient knowledge for the country.

Take off of the network will be marked by a formative stakeholders workshop jointly organised by the duo of National Infrastructure Advisory Facility and ABU’s directorate of University Advancement on the 14th, July 2016.

The NRCN stakeholders consultation workshop will be presided over by the institution’s vice-chancellor, professor Ibrahim Garba, where papers will be presented on different topics of interest. The first paper will be presented by Mr Mike Mutter on ‘Nigeria Infrastructure Advisory Facility Effective Cities: Resilient Cities’.

While the second paper will be presented by Mr Simon Gusah, on ‘City Resilience in Nigeria: Governance, Finance and Performance’, the third paper will be presented by the Director of ABU’ s Directorate of Advancement, Professor Adamu Ahmed, on ‘NRCN Institutional and Operating Model.
