What was supposed to be a routine official visit by Indian minister of the central state of Madhya Pradesh, Mr. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, nose dived pretty quickly and sparked rebuttals and jokes on Twitter after a picture of the minister surfaced online.

The picture showed the minister being carried by police officials through a flooded road in the affected community he gone to visit on ‘flood inspection’.

According to BBC, “Large parts of India have been flooded after a number of rivers started flowing above the danger level. At least 17 people have been reportedly killed in flood-related incidents in Madhya Pradesh.”

Indians have been reacting to the minister’s apparent unease with the situation on ground particularly because, as the BBC report points out, at least 15,000 people affected by flood related situations have been evacuated from their homes.
