BREAKING: National Assembly shutdown, staff locked outside

The National Assembly, Abuja has been shutdown by security operatives.

The decision to shut the complex might not be unconnected with the preparations ahead of
President Muhammadu Buhari’s anticipated visit to the National Assembly today to present the estimates of the 2017 budget to a joint assembly.

Meanwhile, Buhari is currently in the Gambia and it is not clear if he would be able to meet the scheduled 12pm appointment.

Members of staff have reportedly been denied access and all other organisations rendering services within the complex have been shut out.

Long queues of vehicles and crowds of anxious people are noticed along the entry points at the time of this report.
