“I Don’t Know What Reality Is”- Mariah Carey

Mariah Carey insists her new TV series isn’t a reality show.

The American superstar is offering a glimpse into her private life, including her family, friends and inner circle, in the eight-part documentary series Mariah’s World, which is airing on E! Entertainment Television.

The show follows Mariah as she takes her Sweet Sweet Fantasy Tour to Europe and South Africa, while simultaneously planning her ill-fated wedding to Australian business mogul James Packer.

While the New York native claims to bare all in the show, she is adamant that it is not typical
reality television.

“I don’t even know what reality is,” she told Britain’s Hello! magazine, going on to add that she hopes the series conveys her authentic self. “Like, I can be a bit of a jokestress (sic) and sometimes that gets the best of me. I can be a bit bossy, but I try to be a nice person.”

The Hero singer explains she is happy to have her children involved in the series, as twins Moroccan and Monroe, five, travel with her pretty much everywhere. But she claims that there’s no such thing as a “normal day” for herself and her little ones, whom she shares with ex-husband Nick Cannon.

“I always take (my kids) with me on tour,” said Mariah. “I try to have them do as many activities that aren’t just the iPad. So I spend time with them, we travel together. They really enjoy travelling – they’ve been around the world probably more than most adults will ever be around the world.”

Mariah adds that her twins have a keen interest in music, and they both like to sing and play songs. But Moroccan prefers to DJ and mix songs together, while Monroe likes to sing.

“Miss Monroe has a really, really, really great ear for music. She has a beautiful tone, but I can’t force her sing. If she wants to sing, she’ll sing. I encourage her because it’s a great outlet.”
