Eminem Sues New Zealand’s Ruling Party Over ‘Lose Yourself’

Ace rapper, Eminem has lots of hit singles to his name – ‘My Name Is’, Not Afraid’, ‘Cleanin’ Out My Closet’ and others. But there are two songs in contention when it comes to his magnum opus – ‘Stan’ and ‘Lose Yourself’ – so he doesn’t mess around with any of those.

Little wonder the rapper is suing New Zealand’s ruling party, ‘The National Party’, for using ‘Lose Yourself’ to campaign without proper permission.

An advert used by the party during campaigning in the country’s last elections contained a soundtrack which was similar to Eminem’s iconic ‘Lose Yourself’ single, itself the soundtrack for his 2002 movie ‘8 Mile’.

The party argues they were provided with the beat by a music production company known as Beatbox.

The case commenced on Monday in New Zealand, with the judge listening to both versions of the song.
