HBO Confirms Game Of Thrones Spin-Offs Are In Development

Home Box Office (HBO), the network responsible for some of the greatest tv shows of all time, including currently the most watched, pirated and acclaimed show on tv, Game of Thrones, have announced spin-offs of the show are currently being explored.

A team of four writers would each be working individually with George R.R Martin, the author of the show’s source novels, to develop these new shows which would expand the world of the tv show.

The four writers are Max Borenstein (“Kong: Skull Island”), Jane Goldman (“Kingsman: The Golden Circle”), Brian Helgeland (“Legend”), and Carly Wray (“Mad Men,” “The Leftovers”).

The new shows could be prequels, sequels, or something expanding on the story or backstory of a particular character. HBO says there’s no time frame on when the shows would be ready but the writers would be given the leeway to develop their stories.

“We’ll take as much or as little time as the writers need and, as with all our development, we will evaluate what we have when the scripts are in,” a spokesperson for the network said Thursday.

The showrunners of Game of Thrones, David Benioff and Dan Weiss, would not be involved with the spin-offs.
