23-year-old Okada Rider Wins Parliamentary Election

A 23-year-old part time Okada rider and university student, Paul Mwirigi, has shocked many after defeating his opponent to win a seat in Kenya's parliamentary election.

Paul Mwirigi defeated his rival, Joseph Mwereria, to win Igembe South Parliamentary seat in Meru County with 19,366 votes.

Mwirigi who is currently a third-year university student ran as an independent candidate, while his rival contested on a Jubilee Party ticket. Mwirigi campaign was financed by his supporters.
