Well the dog wasn't arrested alone, as it accomplices - Odunade Olajide and Adeniyi Adisa, were paraded by the state Commissioner of Police, Edgal Imohimi, at the command headquarters in Ikeja yesterday.
Imohini explained to Punch that the suspects’ plan was that the targets would surrender their belongings in fear as the dog attacked.
“The suspects would command the Alsatian dog to attack a victim. The dog, in response to the command, would pounce on the person. Gripped with fear, the person would hand over all his belonging to the gang,” he said.
The CP further revealed that men of his command had been on the trail of the suspects, but luck ran out on them last Thursday when they were arrested in the process of working on a woman.
The suspects however denied the allegations, saying they had only gone to buy dog feed when the woman raised a false alarm. Olajide said the woman found her phone where she kept it, but it was already too late as SARS operatives had arrested them.
However, the CP insisted that the suspects will be charged to court after necessary investigations have been done.
