Girl hangs herself after her mother banned her from Facebook

An Indian teenager is said to have killed herself because her mother ordered her to get off social networking site, Facebook. 13-year-old Aditi Gupta hanged herself in her family home after her mother, Mohana told her she was spending too much time on the site. The 36-year-old mother told her daughter:   ‘I want that Facebook account closed by the time I come home.’ By the time Mrs. Gupta returned home for lunch, she found Aditi dead in her bedroom. There have been renewed concerns in recent times about the effects that excessive use of social media can have on children.
