Several partygoers were rushed to a hospital after eating birthday cake laced with marijuana, police in Spain said.
Oviedo Police said the birthday party was shut down, when eight people were taken to the hospital because the birthday cake contained marijuana butter.
The incident began when two brothers were celebrating their birthday at a bar on Saturday. At some point, guests began to feel a little strange, and eight people were rushed to the hospital.
Medical personnel at the Asturias Central Hospital, immediately realized that those attending the party consumed too much marijuana and contacted the police.
Detectives questioned the guests, and it turned out that one of the mothers got a little too
creative in the kitchen. The mother, who was not identified, said that she used a secret ingredient in order to spice things up a little.
The secret ingredient turned out to be marijuana butter. Officials said that all the guests were over 18 years old, and none of them suffered any permanent injuries.
The bar has been shut down by police, pending the outcome of the investigation. (WWWN)
