Fr. Mbaka’s Accounts Frozen Hours To Election - Read Different Sides Of The Story
All the bank accounts of Enugu Catholic Priest of Adoration Ministry, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, have been reportedly frozen by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
There are claims that the EFCC operatives who carried out the operation were detailed from Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital. Fr. Mbaka was also said to have been asked to report at their
PortHarcourt office on an unspecified date.
According to Fr. Mbaka’s media aide, Maximus Ugwuoke:
“All the cheques issued to the banks today (yesterday) were returned. We don’t know why they decided to use EFCC operatives from Port Harcourt while the zonal headquarters is here in Enugu. ”
The media aide further stated the action might not be unconnected with the December 31, 2014 message in which Fr. Mbaka criticised President Jonathan’s administration.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has however denied freezing the said accounts in a statement by the Head of Media and Publicity of the commission, Mr. Wilson Uwujiaren. In his words:
“The attention of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has been drawn to reports in a section of the media claiming that the Commission had frozen the accounts of Enugu-based Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka of the Adoration Mass fame....The Commission wishes to state that there is no truth in the report and should be discountenanced.”
