Game Of Thrones Sets New Record At The Emmy Awards

Well deserved! HBO’s Game of Thrones broke its duck at the 2015 primetime Emmy awards Sunday night, winning the top honour ‘Outstanding Drama Series’ for the first time in its five year run.

However, that was not the only milestone the show achieved on the night. Game of Thrones final tally of twelve awards made it the show with the most wins in a year, overtaking previous holder The
West Wing’s ten awards from the 2000 edition.

The show picked up three other awards on the main night; Peter Dinklage for ‘Outstanding Supporting Actor In A Drama Series’, David Benioff and Dan Weiss for ‘Outstanding Writing For A Drama Series’, and David Nutter for ‘Outstanding Directing For A Drama Series’.

The other eight awards were won at last week’s creative Emmy awards.
