Graduate Lawyer Sues Her Law School 8 Years After Graduating Without A Job

According to report by the New York Times, 37-year Alaburda is accusing the school of
using inflated post-graduation employment figures and salaries to defraud applicants.

Alaburda had graduated top of her class in 2008, but had struggled to find a good job despite applying to over 150 firms.

It will be the first time such a case would be going to trial, with such cases having been thrown out in the past on the basis that the students knew what they were getting into.

“It has taken five years,” Alaburda’s lawyer, Brian A. Procel said. “But this will be the first time a law school will be on trial to defend its public employment figures.”

The school has fought back against the suit, with dean Thomas Guernsey telling Business Insider: “We have a strong track record of producing successful graduates, with 7,000 alumni working nationally and internationally.”
