Drama In Osun: Oni Of Ife's Burial Rights On Hold As Abobaku Disappears

Reports from multiple sources have it that the burial rites of Oba Sijuwade, the Ooni of Ife has been put on hold after the 'Abobaku' fled the town.

The 'Abobaku' is the one who would be buried alive with the King. According to tradition,  he is expected to continue to serve the king even in death. The 'Abobaku' is usually appointed upon a
king’s coronation, and has to be buried with the king when he eventually dies, as his job is to serve the king even in the world beyond.
