A group of thieves have burgled a shrine of the universally feared antoa nyama deity in the Kwabre East district of the Ashanti Region, Ghana.
According to Ghanaian Times, the thieves made away with gold, and several other valuable items kept in the shrine's ‘strongroom’. The paper also gathered that they made away with some of the idols in the chamber, which are believed to contain trace elements of gold.
The inner chamber, which is not easily entered, had six guards, and they have all been arrested and granted bail to assist in investigations. Reports say the last time anyone entered that room was four years ago.
