42 Year Old Man Beheads 3 Year Old Niece In Ondo, Claims He Was Looking For Riches

A 42-year-old man identified as Mr. Samuel Omosaba, was yesterday arrested by the Police for allegedly beheading his three-year-old niece at Ilepa quarters in Ikare-Akoko, Akoko North East local government area of Ondo State.

The man who is reportedly without a job was said to have contacted a herbalist to help him get rich.

The herbalist reportedly told him that the only way to make him rich was for him to look for the head of a baby. The little girl met her untimely death when she was placed in the care of the suspect by her mother who dropped her off at her mother in-law’s. Samuel, who is her husband’s elder brother promised to take care of the child until her grandmother returns home. When the girl’s mother returned she met her daughter’s lifeless body in Samuel’s room.

The suspect confessed to the family members that he killed the girl for ritual purposes and was nearly lynched by aggrieved youths in the community before the police came to his rescue.

The incident was confirmed by the State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Femi Joseph, who stated that the matter had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigative Department (CID) Akure for further investigation.
