Diego Maradona Denied Entry To The US After Insulting Donald Trump

Diego Maradona has been denied entry to the United States following insulting comments he made about Donald Trump.

The Argentine football icon’s application for a visa was turned down by American officials following the interview he granted back in his home country.

Maradona, 58, reportedly called the president of the United States a ‘chirolita’, an Argentine term for something of low value.

According to his lawyer, Matia Morla, he’d warned the World Cup winner not to speak about the USA prior to the visa application, Sun writes.

“When we’re about to get the visa, I said to him: ‘Diego, please, don’t speak about the USA.’

“And, during a TV interview, in the second question, they asked him: ‘What do you think of Donald Trump?

“He replied: ‘He is a chirolita.'”

Maradona is no stranger to controversies, and he’s had issues in the past with the United States.

During the 1994 World Cup, the mercurial no 10 failed a drugs test and was sent home from the Argentina camp.

He also had his visa revoked and was told never to return to the country again.

El Pibe wanted to be present for the trial of his ex-wife Claudia Villafane in Miami in March.
